A man accused of a quadruple murder last summer in upstate New York was taken into custody on Wednesday in the Dominican Republic, as revealed by the U.S. Marshals Service earlier this week.

Luis Soriano, alternatively known as Jefry Yevo, 31, was sought after by the Irondequoit Police Department for charges including four counts of second-degree murder and drug-related offenses. He is additionally charged with arson, burglary, and kidnapping. This series of events commenced on Aug. 31, 2024.

Authorities were responding to a fire that morning when they found the bodies of Fraime Ubaldo, 30, Marangely Moreno Santiago, 26, and their two young children, Evangeline Ubaldo Moreno, 4, and Sebastian Ubaldo Moreno, 2, in the basement of their home on Knapp Avenue in the town just outside of Rochester.

Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters said he had never seen anything like the crime scene that day.

“This was a horrific scene,” Peters said at the time, according to Rochester-based ABC affiliate WHAM. “In almost 32 years of doing this job, I have never seen anything like it. This is Labor Day. It’s supposed to be a joyous day spending time with your family. This family doesn’t have that anymore. Half of this family is gone in an instant.”

Julio Soriano, 34, Luis Soriano’s brother, was arrested a week after the murders. He was reportedly indicted on murder, burglary, arson, and kidnapping charges and pleaded not guilty in court. Police said the brothers were cousins of the father of the family.

Luis Soriano was believed to have fled to Puerto Rico, and in September, he was added to the “10 Most Wanted Fugitives List” in the territory.

Investigators learned the suspect fled by boat to the Dominican Republic, where he hails from originally, according to the U.S. Marshals. Federal agents learned the defendant was working at a hotel in Punta Cana, and said they arrested him “without incident” once he finished his shift at the hotel’s call center.
