The parents of a missing special needs girl in Georgia have reportedly said that the Carrolton Police Department isn’t taking her disappearance seriously.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Kaylee Jones, 16, was last seen near Whooping Creek Church Road in Carrollton on June 14, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Her parents, Daniel and Brenda Jones, told police they told their daughter goodnight on Tuesday night, but the following day she was gone.

While police said Kaylee may have met up with someone she met online, her parents fear she’s fallen in with the wrong people. Kaylee is autistic and requires special medication, and according to her father, she’s impressionable and vulnerable.

Danny Jones told DailyMail that the Carrolton police aren’t treating Kaylee’s disappearance seriously as the 4th-week mark of her disappearance nears.

“Our daughter is missing… gone…vanished, and it doesn’t seem like anyone is looking for her,” Jones said. ‘The police think she is a runaway.”

“When police arrived they didn’t do a proper search of our house. They didn’t use search dogs. Nothing. Kaylee is very trusting. Someone lured her away.”

Brenda Jones said Kaylee may have a backpack with her, possibly with the words “Mazi” or “Kaylee” written on it. She also reportedly said although Kaylee is 16, she operates mentally at a level below her age.

“Mentally she is like a young kid and wouldn’t know if she is in danger,” she told DailyMail. “Why isn’t she being put out as a Mattie’s Call? This is horrific that no one can help.”

Kaylee is described as a white female who stands 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs around 135 pounds. Police said the teen does not have her phone with her.

Anyone with information about Kaylee should call Investigator Kim Biggs at 770-830-5916 or dial 911.
