Deleted Reddit posts from Patrick Clancy reportedly offer a disturbing look at his desperation as his then-wife, Lindsay, experienced a severe decline in her mental health before the deaths of their three children.
According to a new report, Patrick used the online discussion platform to seek guidance about Lindsay’s struggles after the birth of their youngest child, Callan. The posts were obtained by the New York Post.
His Reddit account, which was active between 2017 and 2025, described how Lindsay began displaying manic symptoms after taking the antidepressant Zoloft for anxiety related to returning to work following Callan’s birth, the report said.
Patrick wrote that Lindsay, a former labor and delivery nurse, lost a significant amount of weight and entered a manic state after becoming unable to sleep, according to the posts that were later deleted.
“I suspect this medication was never needed in the first place—Zoloft was my own idea—but my psychiatrist is saying I’m exhibiting signs of bipolar disorder,” he wrote on Lindsay’s behalf in a December 7, 2022, post.
The post appeared in the “Ask Docs” subreddit under the heading “posting for my wife,” according to the New York Post.
In another post, shared about seven weeks before the deaths of five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan, Patrick wrote that Lindsay developed “severe insomnia” after taking Zoloft for a week.
“At one point, I went 48 hours without sleeping,” the post continued.

“For weeks I have been lucky to get three or four hours of sleep a night,” Patrick added, according to the report. “Oddly, I don’t feel tired, but I know I need more sleep.”
The same post said Lindsay had dropped 15 pounds in only two weeks, leaving her weighing 115 pounds.
One of the Reddit entries also contained Patrick’s email address. Cellphone forensics expert Timothy Chiappini later referenced it during proceedings in Plymouth court, the outlet reported.
In a December 9, 2022, post, Patrick appeared to ask whether Lindsay’s condition had led her to consider “hurting others.”
“Has your [medication] experience ever involved thoughts of hurting others, including loved ones?” he asked.
“Did you ever feel like you came close to acting on them? Or were they just thoughts?”
Across the posts, Patrick also seemed to express regret about Lindsay beginning medication in the first place.
After Zoloft, Lindsay was prescribed Ativan, other benzodiazepines, sleeping medication for her reported insomnia and Prozac for anxiety, according to one of Patrick’s posts.

In a December 6, 2022, post titled “I need another perspective” in the “Ask Psychiatry” subreddit, Patrick wrote: “I can’t stress enough that her anxiety was very mild going into this.”

‘She was eating well, sleeping great as usual, dancing at the wedding we went to and socializing,’ he added, per the report.
He went on to share that something similar occurred after the birth of their older children, but it was a lot harder the third time around.
‘This happened with our previous two children and she was able to get through it fairly easy with some therapy and renewed coping skills.
‘Was she overwhelmed with the kids? Definitely, but I believe we could have solved that by giving her more time to herself to decompress as we have in the past,’ he continued, according to the publication.
Patrick then went on to question if therapy would be better for Lindsay than medication, the Post reported.
By December 15, Patrick shared that his ‘severely depressed’ and ‘numb’ partner had been admitted to the hospital, according to a Reddit post reviewed by the outlet.
Lindsay was checked into Massachusetts General Hospital emergency room at that time, according to testimony at her recent trial.

The 36-year-old was then sent to McLean Hospital on December 30 of that year after a postpartum treatment center in Rhode Island turned her away because medical professionals believed she needed more generalized psychiatric care, her treating psychiatrists said on the stand.
Then on January 23, 2023 – a day before the children were killed – Patrick asked a technology subreddit page about developing an app for a real estate open house, according to the Post.
He told the court that Lindsay appeared to be in a good state of mind after her hospital release, and that he did not suspect anything was wrong on the night of January 24, when she sent him out to run errands while she strangled the kids to death in the basement of their family home in Duxbury.
Lindsay then cut her wrists and throat and jumped from a second-story window. Patrick said he found her lying outside after the fall before he rushed inside the home and found his children.

She has never denied taking their lives, but said she was not guilty because she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time.

But the case that rocked America ended in a mistrial earlier this month after they failed to come to a unanimous decision.
Prosecutors have not yet decided if she will be tried again. She continues to receive psychiatric treatment at Tewksbury State Hospital.
Both she and Patrick have lawsuits filed against doctors who treated her, claiming that their alleged missteps resulted in the deaths of their children.
