Patrick Clancy's lawyer puts influencers and celebrities 'on notice'

Patrick Clancy’s attorney has warned that public figures, influencers and online commentators are now “on notice” over the spread of baseless claims suggesting the grieving father played a role in the deaths of his three young children.

Patrick testified that in January 2023, he discovered his children — five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan — strangled in the basement of the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, during the opening of his ex-wife’s closely watched trial.

Moments earlier, he told the court, he had found Lindsay Clancy outside on the lawn after she allegedly slit her wrists and neck and then jumped from a second-floor window.

Lindsay has acknowledged killing the children that night, but she has entered not guilty pleas to murder charges by reason of insanity, with her defense arguing she was experiencing postpartum psychosis.

The outcome of the high-profile Massachusetts murder trial remained uncertain Monday as 12 jurors continued deliberating Lindsay Clancy’s fate.

A conviction for first-degree murder could bring a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. If jurors find her guilty of second-degree murder, she could face life with parole eligibility. A manslaughter conviction carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, while an acquittal would result in her being committed to a state mental health facility.

Since testimony began on July 27, the tragic case has fueled a wave of online speculation, with social media users and even some celebrities circulating unsupported theories — including claims that Patrick was somehow connected to the killings that stunned the country.

Some online trolls have pushed unverified accusations that Patrick framed his ex-wife so he could move on with his life, particularly after reports emerged that he married a New York City fertility doctor in April 2026.

Patrick has never spoken out about the baseless rumors, but as Lindsay’s case comes to a close, his attorney has threatened those sharing the ‘false, defamatory statements.’

‘The facts are indisputable: Patrick Clancy has suffered an unspeakable and unimaginable loss,’ Howard Cooper with Todd & Weld, a Boston-based law firm, told CNN.

Cooper continued: ‘Unfortunately, the tragedy Patrick has experienced has been compounded by patently false, defamatory, and injurious public statements.

‘The individuals making those statements – from minor influencers to major celebrities – should be on notice that their despicable actions and false, defamatory statements have caused real life consequences to the health and safety of Patrick and his family.’

But during the trial, bombshell testimony from a forensic pathologist showed how Lindsay’s injuries were consistent with a suicide attempt.

Dr Elizabeth Laposata, the former chief medical examiner of Rhode Island, created diagrams that illustrated how Lindsay jumped out of the window headfirst, causing blood to go onto the shingles on the exterior of the home.

‘It was a free fall dive, head first,’ she said.

Laposata likened Clancy’s injuries, a Jefferson fracture, to a person diving into a swimming pool and hitting their head on the bottom of the pool.

Prosecutors have argued that Lindsay set out to kill her children that day and that she is a cold-blooded murderer.

Meanwhile, her defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, has claimed that the former labor and delivery nurse strangled her kids to death while in the throes of postpartum depression and psychosis.

Reddington has also argued that Lindsay was overmedicated by medical professionals she sought help from.

She was prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications in the four months leading up to the murders, the courtroom was told.

Both Patrick and Lindsay have filed separate lawsuits against several of her medical providers, alleging that they overmedicated the mother.

This overmedication led to her conditions worsening, and ultimately to the deaths of the children, the suits claim.

Many of the providers they are suing took the stand during her murder trial, including Dr Jennifer Tufts and Nurse Rebecca Jollotta.

The civil suits are still making their way through the courts. The medical providers are challenging the lawsuits and have denied liability.

If a guilty verdict is delivered, Lindsay will not only be sent to jail, but Patrick’s lawsuits might not hold up in court, a legal expert recently told Our News Outlet.

At the same time, a guilty verdict could bring new lawsuits against the online trolls making false accusations about Patrick’s alleged role in the killings.
