Chaos erupts at Texas Trump rally as protesters disrupt

At least three protesters interrupted Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Texas on Wednesday evening.

The disruption began just minutes after Trump walked onto the stage, when one demonstrator shouted toward the president, followed shortly afterward by another. The crowd responded with loud boos.

Trump briefly paused his remarks before responding to the protester. “He’s going back home to mom right now,” he said, adding, “What he doesn’t know is that his mom voted for Trump.”

He then resumed his speech and turned his attention to Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico, who has been leading Trump-backed Republican candidate Ken Paxton in recent polling for the Texas Senate race.

Trump later returned to the subject of the interruption, telling the San Antonio audience, “You know, many of these protesters are paid. You know that, right?”

After spending several more minutes criticizing Talarico, Trump introduced an “Angel Mom” whose son was killed in a 2014 crime committed by an undocumented immigrant.

Her remarks also appeared to be interrupted by another protester.

Later, Trump told supporters that millions of seniors would receive refund payments. “Over 20 million seniors on Medicare will receive checks or deposits for over $100 each, including over 1.4 million seniors here … in Texas,” he said.

With less than a month remaining until Election Day, Paxton trails Democratic rival James Talarico in the latest survey from The New York Times and Siena Research. His campaign has also faced considerable personal scrutiny during his ongoing divorce and amid reports about an affair with Tracy Duhon, issues that Our News Outlet has covered extensively.

The latest challenge for Paxton emerged only hours before Trump’s San Antonio appearance, when newly surfaced audio again captured the Texas Republican criticizing Washington’s approach to decision-making.

During a September 24 event, an attendee asked Paxton what he believed was hurting his campaign. In audio reported by Axios, he replied, “It’s not tariffs…. It’s the war, it’s gas prices, it’s diesel.”

Paxton made the comments at a private fundraising lunch for lobbyists in Washington, DC, according to reporting by Axios.

“When it’s over $6 per gallon for diesel… people are feeling the pinch,” Paxton said, warning that expensive fuel pushes up the cost of food and other goods.

He also conceded that he could not bring the conflict to an end and had “no control over gas prices.”

Paxton’s remarks are the third that have been leaked from the same event in the last month.
