A rain bomb is set to smash Australia’s east coast over Easter – but in welcome news, residents in Sydney and Melbourne are poised to escape the downpour.
The news isn’t as good for Brisbane residents, who are already enduring a coronavirus lockdown until Thursday evening, with heavy rainfall forecast over the break.
Experts have predicted an average of 50mm along the Queensland coast.
With continual drizzle forecast the next few days, Brisbane could see up to 25mm of rain on Easter Monday and Tuesday.

Following the relentless recent floods in NSW, those in the Harbour City would not have welcomed the heavens opening.
Thankfully at this stage, the forecast in Sydney over Easter is nothing but clouds and temperatures in the mid-20s.
Further south in Melbourne, the mercury is set to rise to as high as 30 degrees on Saturday, before dropping to 19 degrees on Monday to see out the long weekend.
Canberra is tipped to be sunny all week with highs heading into the high 20s, while in Tasmania, the temperature is poised to drop to a chilly 10 degrees for Easter Sunday.
Adelaide and Perth will see temperatures soar past 30 degrees this weekend, with the Top End bracing itself for rain in Darwin between Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Leading meteorologist Ron Sharpe believes a monsoon and even a possible cyclone could engulf the Northern Territory.
‘There is a low pressure system and that is expected to strengthen,’ he said, according to news.com.au.
‘It’s about a 50/50 chance to become a tropical cyclone — maybe even slightly greater than that.
‘It could hit Darwin, we cannot rule it out at this early stage.’
