Live | Day 2: Jacksonville rapper Ksoo's murder trial continues

The court is set to listen to testimony from various witnesses, including the rapper’s father, Abdul Robinson Sr., who is anticipated to take the stand against his son as part of a plea agreement.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Day two in the trial for Jacksonville rapper Hakeem Robinson, known as Ksoo, continues Thursday.

Robinson, 26, and Leroy Whitaker, 24, are on trial together for the January 2020 murder of Charles McCormick, however, both men have separate juries.

McCormick was shot to death in a shopping center on Merrill Road on Jan. 15, 2020.

In Wednesday’s opening statements, prosecutors described Robinson’s motive for the murder as personal, citing a “diss track” by McCormick that mentioned Robinson’s deceased brother Willie Addison as the trigger for the offense.

Conversely, Tara Kawass, one of Robinson’s defense attorneys, highlighted inconsistencies between Robinson’s appearance and that of the individual captured committing the murder on dashcam footage.

Thursday, the two juries are expected to hear from witnesses, and Robinson’s father, Abdul Robinson Sr., is expected to testify against his son as part of a plea deal.
