Enraged Republicans seek to punish progressive Squad member for speech

A Republican congressman is threatening a progressive member after she delivered a red-hot speech at a Palestinian conference over the weekend.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., condemned Republicans and Democrats during the People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit as ‘genocide enablers.’

“They thought they could kill us, rape us, imprison us, violently uproot us from our olive tree farms, starve our children to death, and we would disappear,” she told the room of Palestinian supporters. “Well, guess what? Now we’re in Congress.”

‘Look at this room, motherf*****s! We ain’t going anywhere,’ she added as applause broke out.

Videos of the lawmaker’s speech went viral on social media, amassing thousands of views.

Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., introduced a measure to formally reprimand, or censure, Tlaib for “vilifying her colleagues, endangering the lives of Jewish people, and celebrating terrorism,” Fox News first reported.

‘Her conduct is beneath that of a civilized person, let alone a member of Congress,’ Carter said.

“I am calling on the House of Representatives to censure her remarks and put Democrats on notice for enabling and cheering on antisemitism in their own party,” he added.

Tlaib’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Censure is the highest form of punishment in Congress outside of being expelled.

Just a few dozen House members have been censured in the history of the House of Representatives, with the most recent being Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, who screamed and interrupted President Donald Trump’s address to Congress in early March.

The Detroit congresswoman was censored by the GOP-held House in 2023 over other comments she made about Israel.

Twenty-two Democrats joined Republicans to condemn the progressive Michigan lawmaker in a stunning rebuke of her controversial statements on the conflict in the Middle East.

Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American member of Congress and represents Dearborn, Michigan, a Detroit suburb that is the first majority-Arab city in the U.S.

‘Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s antisemitism is emboldening terrorists and endangering the lives of Jewish people,’ Carter posted on X on Wednesday.

‘I’m calling on the House to censure her for her vile remarks and for [Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga.] and the rest of the Democrat party to denounce the Pro-Hamas caucus.’

Tlaib’s ‘activist’ speech even earned her criticism from her own side of the aisle.

‘She sounds like an activist who has no responsibility to the people who elected her,’ former Biden White House advisor Yemisi Egbewole said on Fox News Wednesday.

The Detroit progressive noted in her speech that the pro-Palestinian contingent in the U.S. is growing.

‘We are growing and becoming louder. The more Palestinians they kill, the louder we are getting. The louder we are getting, the more children they starve. We cannot be ignored. We will not be ignored,’ Tlaib said.

‘Gaza is the compass in this country and the masses around the world are with us,’ she continued.

Last year, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech to Congress on Capitol Hill, Tlaib held up a ‘war criminal’ sign in an act of defiance.
