SAN ANTONIO – People in one West Side neighborhood woke up to the sound of gunshots and the sight of a shooting victim outside their homes early Friday morning.

San Antonio police, responding to their 911 call around 3:45 a.m., found a man slumped over on the sidewalk in the 500 block of S. Ssan Dario.

The man was sitting outside a fence surrounding a home there.

Police say that man, who appeared to be in his 40s, had been shot multiple times in his upper body and was dead from those gunshot wounds.

Nearby, police found a bicycle which they believe the victim was riding at time, as well as several shell casings in the street.

They collected all of it as evidence in the case.
