JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Middle Tennessee man is facing charges after authorities report he led deputies on a pursuit in Johnson City.

On Sunday around 6 p.m., deputies noticed a red sport bike speeding on West State of Franklin Road and University Parkway, as reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office detailed in a news release that the motorbike barely avoided a collision and ran a red light before taking a turn onto Jack Vest Drive. Due to traffic, deputies decided to call off the chase.

Eventually, deputies discovered the motorcycle had crashed at the roundabout on Jack Vest Drive and stopped to check on the rider, identified as 23-year-old John Michael Clark from Brentwood, Tennessee.

Once EMS cleared him, Clark was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. His bond was set at $11,000, and according to the sheriff’s office, he was able to post it.

The sheriff’s office charged Clark with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, reckless driving, running a red light, and speeding.
