Police are searching for three individuals who deceived an 84-year-old man out of his Chase bank card in Queens, subsequently using it to make purchases amounting to thousands of dollars.
The incident occurred on June 26 at around 10 a.m., inside a Chase branch near Woodside Ave. and 60th St. in Sunnyside Gardens. While the elderly man was at the ATM, one suspect tapped him on the shoulder to divert his attention, allowing an accomplice to swiftly swap his bank card with another, authorities reported.
The two robbers then left the bank, giving the victim’s card to another man who was waiting outside the place.
Afterward, the victim noticed unauthorized transactions on his card totaling $6,800, police said.
The three suspects remain at large. One was wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt and glasses, another donned a black long-sleeve shirt and a black hat, and the third was seen in a white long-sleeve shirt, blue shorts, white sneakers, and a white hat.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
