Police are concerned young people are being recruited in to more serious criminal activity by other crime gangs
Det Act Supt Brad Abdy said the firearms allegedly found in the operation are extremely dangerous, with some used in ‘many organised crime murders throughout Sydney’
Four vehicles, which also allegedly had cloned number-plates attached, were seized for forensic examination during Monday’s operation
‘It’s obviously concerning for police where youths are being recruited in to more serious criminal activity by other crime gangs.’
Det Act Supt Brad Abdy said the arrests made on Monday were important in dismantling part of an alleged contract criminal group.
‘It’s extremely notable, especially (regarding) the high caliber ammunition. That ammunition is obviously extremely dangerous,’ he said.
‘The firearms – multiple pistols, semi-automatic pistols and a revolver – were located.
‘As we know, revolvers and these semi-automatic pistols are large (and) are used in many organised crime murders throughout Sydney.
‘So this seizure certainly hinders that group and certainly dismantles that criminal syndicate.’
