Australians have shown strong support for the estranged wife of Spanian, following her debut food review video that many viewers are praising for its authentic touch.

Angela McColl, aged 37, visited the Sydney Fish Market and shared a video of her experience on Friday. Since its release just two days ago, the video has garnered nearly 260,000 views.

Previously married to Spanian, whose real name is Anthony Lees, Ms. McColl was with him for two years before their split in 2025.

Her newly launched food review channel, already boasting 30,000 subscribers, positions her as a competitor to her ex-husband, who commands a hefty 1.2 million followers on his YouTube series, ‘It’s All Eats’.

In a move that seems intentionally timed, Ms. McColl’s inaugural review was released shortly after Spanian’s video comparing a $10 seafood meal to an $800 one.

“I am thrilled to start this journey,” Ms. McColl expressed. “I have to admit, I’m a bit nervous, but also very excited.”

Ms McColl reviewed a selection of meals, including the Sydney Rock Oysters, a raw sashimi platter and the market’s famous lobster rolls. 

Many viewers praised the amateur food reviewer for her authenticity.

‘She is more real/ authentic. No one likes a big head, full of themselves constantly needing validation,’ another commented.

‘Her ex will one day be a little embarrassed of his mindset in his 30s.’ 

‘Spanian she’s coming for you and by her personality, humbleness and authenticity she will blow up,’ a third added.

‘Honestly, it reminds me of Spanian when he was down-to-earth before he changed.’

Some took aim at Spanian, complaining his channel was not the same as when it launched. 

‘People are a little tired of the ex, beating his chest about the G Wagon, superiority complex, and need for validation from others,’ one wrote.

‘It’s embarrassing to watch sometimes. He’s like a child.’

Ms McColl’s debut video came just days after Spanian posted his YouTube review where he compared a $10 seafood meal to a $60 one and an $800 experience. 

In the review, he visited three different seafood spots, with the cheapest meal being a humble fish burger, and the most expensive a seafood platter.

Earlier this month, Ms McColl revealed she would be launching a food review channel, saying she was going to ‘shoot her shot’ and see how it went.

‘I’m actually really funny, that sounds cocky saying that, but I’m kinda funny,’ she said.

‘And you guys will see my personality in the videos,’ she said.

The new Sydney Fish Market is set to open on Monday, with visitor numbers expected to double to more than six million as it moves next door to a striking new harbourside location on Blackwattle Bay.  

Sydney Fish Market CEO Daniel Jarosch said they’ve waited ‘decades’ for the new market.

‘It’s the end of an era and the beginning of something extraordinary,’ he said. 

The new market will feature more than 40 retailers, diverse dining options and immersive visitor experiences.
