CHICAGO (WLS) — Details of a settlement reached between the city of Chicago and actor Jussie Smollett have now been released.

The video in the player above is from a previous report.

The city was suing Smollett to recoup what it spent investigating Smollett’s false claims that he was attacked.

Back in 2019, Chicago’s Law Department initiated a lawsuit against Smollett after he ignored the city’s demand to pay over $130,000 related to the allegedly orchestrated incident.

In 2019, Smollett contributed $10,000 to the city. He has now agreed to donate an additional $50,000 to the “BBF Building Brighter Futures Center for the Arts,” a Chicago-based organization offering community, health, and educational services to underprivileged youth, as per a Thursday statement from Chicago’s Department of Law.

The statement added, “The City considers this settlement to be a fair, constructive, and definitive conclusion, enabling all involved parties to put this six-year-old issue behind them and progress.”
