Starting next Monday Aldi is giving away free groceries

Bargain-hunting shoppers may soon have a new way to trim their grocery costs, as Aldi brings back one of its most talked-about promotions: the chance to win a free box filled with Aldi products.

The discount grocer confirmed the return of its “Aldi Blind Box” giveaway, giving customers an opportunity to receive complimentary mystery grocery bundles stocked with a combination of popular items, everyday essentials and newer products.

Designed to tap into the rising appeal of surprise “blind box” shopping, the promotion will run for four days, from June 22 to June 25. Aldi plans to release a different themed box each day, available while supplies last.

The latest giveaway follows a similar campaign Aldi rolled out last year, which sparked major attention online as shoppers hurried to secure free boxes and posted their unboxing reactions across social media.

For 2025, the boxes take inspiration from several of the food trends shaping grocery purchases, including protein-packed options, fiber-focused foods and the continued popularity of snacking.

Aldi said shoppers will be able to try for one of four themed bundles: a Snack Blind Box, a Fiber Blind Box, a Protein Blind Box and a Mystery Blind Box.

The Snack Blind Box is designed for grazing and casual meals, featuring products such as cheeses, dips, crunchy snacks and sweet treats.

For health-conscious shoppers, the Fiber Blind Box will include produce and better-for-you items aimed at helping consumers boost their daily fiber intake without sacrificing convenience.

Meanwhile, the Protein Blind Box caters to the ongoing protein craze that has swept supermarkets and social media alike, offering a range of protein-packed products and new discoveries.

The final Mystery Blind Box is exactly what it sounds like – a surprise assortment of Aldi favorites and staple grocery items.

‘Our shoppers come to Aldi for value, but they also come for discovery,’ Bridget Kozlowski, Aldi’s director of communications, said.

‘The Aldi Blind Box taps into the excitement our fans already feel walking our aisles.

‘With surprise unboxings more popular than ever, this is our way of helping customers discover even more favorites.’

The promotion reflects how retailers are increasingly borrowing ideas from the fashion, beauty and collectibles industries, where blind boxes and mystery purchases have become a major consumer trend.

For Aldi, the strategy also helps showcase products shoppers may not otherwise notice while reinforcing the chain’s reputation for offering low-cost alternatives to national brands.

Customers hoping to get a box will need to act quickly.

Aldi said a new blind box will become available each day at noon ET between June 22 and June 25 through the dedicated website AldiBlindBox.com.

Shoppers will simply need to select the day’s box and enter their shipping information.

The retailer will reveal each day’s theme in advance through its Instagram account, encouraging customers to follow along for updates.

With grocery prices still a concern for many households, the chance to receive a free package of groceries is likely to generate another rush of demand – just as it did when Aldi first introduced the promotion last year.
