The Legacy of Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom—the Miserable Death of Downtown Los Angeles

My wife, due to her career, has visited downtown Los Angeles more often than I have in recent years, and she’s described the dystopian scene unfolding there. I eventually suggested, “Alright, let’s go and see for ourselves,” and upon our visit, I learned that Skid Row was far from being a mere “row.” It was an overwhelming stretch of destitution and excess that extended block after block, street by street, seemingly without end.

Unfortunately, my video isn’t good enough for prime time, but many others have documented the unfathomable squalor:

Even though I’ve been living in SoCal for over thirty years and am well familiar with its decline, my visit there it was still a shocking scene.

While Governor Gavin Newsom of California eloquently discusses Democracy, and LA Mayor Karen Bass talks about not needing federal intervention in Tinseltown’s matters because everything is supposedly under control, voters should continuously remind them of the actual consequences of their progressive policies: cities in decline, shattered lives, and the collapse of the American dream.

Detroit’s got nothing on DTLA:

Downtown in the City of Angels is looking more and more like a ghost town.

Once a renowned neighborhood, Los Angeles now resembles a shell of its previous splendor—with rows of shuttered shops, widespread chain store closures, and masses of drug-addicted homeless individuals raising significant safety issues for both shoppers and business owners.

The Post has found that more than 100 retail spaces stand vacant in the Historic Core, the energetic center of the downtown shopping and entertainment area.
