California driver allegedly kills 2 more people while out on bail for previous fatal crash

A 24-year-old resident of Southern California was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with two fatal collisions that occurred just months apart.

Ahkeyajahnique Owens, who had been released on bail after allegedly striking and killing a bicyclist on October 6 in Long Beach, was arrested again following accusations of involvement in a hit-and-run incident in January that resulted in two more deaths, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The January 4 collision reportedly led to the deaths of 21-year-old Gilberto Lopez and 24-year-old Bobbi Smith, while also injuring three additional individuals.

Owens voluntarily surrendered to the Long Beach police on Wednesday and is currently being held with bail set at $200,000.

The police department has not disclosed the bail amount that was set following the initial incident in October.

The department didn’t say how much her bail was after the first crash.
