Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri Cruise, was recently photographed looking noticeably somber during an outing in New York City.

The 19-year-old college student was captured sitting on a doorstep with her head resting in her lap, clearly appearing to be in low spirits.

In another snapshot that seemed to capture a moment of tension, Suri was seen with her hand covering her face. Suri is the daughter of Katie Holmes, 46, and her former husband, Tom Cruise, 63.

Following these moments, Suri was joined by her mother, Katie, who arrived via Uber to provide some comfort. The two were seen seated together as they engaged in conversation.

After their discussion, Suri momentarily stepped away but soon returned, and the pair proceeded to enjoy some pastries together.

Suri, who’s a student at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, kept warm in a green and navy puffer jacket, blue sweats, and brown UGG slippers. 

Meanwhile Katie sported a striped orange and white sweater with oversized black pants and pointed-toe black flats.

The Batman star toted a bright red bag on her arm.

Her eyes were shielded with a pair of sunglasses, and her brunette tresses cascaded in light waves.

Earlier this year in August, Suri joined her mother on the outdoor set of her new movie, Happy Hour, in New York City. 

The actress’ Dawson’s Creek pal Joshua Jackson was also there, filming with her.

Last year Suri began college at Carnegie Mellon, after graduating from New York’s famous LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Suri has already completed her freshman year at the prestigious college Carnegie Mellon, where she is said to be ‘leaning towards’ studying fashion.

‘She is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent mature young woman,’ an insider recently revealed to the Daily Mail. 

‘She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.’

In 2022, Cruise put her soprano pipes to use covering Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart’s 1934 classic Blue Moon, which opened Katie’s second directorial feature Alone Together.

‘Well, I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her,’ Holmes told Yahoo! Entertainment at the time.

‘She’s very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing. That’s the way I direct in general. It’s like, “This is what I think we all want and then go do your thing.”‘

Katie started dating Tom in 2005 and got engaged to him seven weeks into the relationship.

Their wedding was held at the Castello Orsini-Odescalchi in Bracciano in November 2006, seven months after Suri was born.

Katie filed for divorce in 2012 and it was finalized just 10 days later, with Katie retaining primary custody of Suri while Tom was granted visitation, via People.

He reportedly pays Suri’s $65K/year tuition as well as medical, dental, and insurance expenses despite their severed relationship.

Amid the strained connection, Suri opted not to use her dad’s last name on the casting sheet of her senior year high school play The Addams Family: A New Musical, according to a report from Yahoo.

She also opted to only use her first and middle names, ‘Suri Noelle’, during her high school graduation.
