Taylor Swift is joined by Tom Cruise at Travis Kelce's Chiefs game

Taylor Swift made a surprise return to Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, turning out to support Travis Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs opened their season against the Denver Broncos. It was her first public appearance at one of his games since the couple’s star-studded wedding.

The 36-year-old singer, who married Kelce at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 3, watched from her familiar spot in the tight end’s luxury suite as the Chiefs began their latest NFL campaign.

This time, however, Swift had some especially famous company. Hollywood actor Tom Cruise joined her in the suite, adding another major celebrity presence to Kelce’s first game as a married man.

Swift and the Mission: Impossible star were shown chatting intently during the first quarter of Monday Night Football, with their conversation captured by ESPN’s broadcast.

Swift also arrived with a sizable group of friends and relatives. Her father, Scott, sat beside her wearing a bright red Chiefs sweater—even though he is known to support the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelce’s mother, Donna, was also seen among the guests as the suite filled with family members and close friends from the NFL star’s inner circle.

Swift’s appearance had been uncertain because the Chiefs’ season opener fell on the same Monday evening as the 2026 Emmy Awards.

The pop superstar had received several Emmy nominations this year. Her 2025 concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The Final Show, was shortlisted for five awards, including Best Variety Special (Prerecorded) and Best Directing for a Variety Special.

But after the concert film went home without a win in any of its categories at the Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month, Swift opted not to attend Monday’s high-profile ceremony.

Instead, she chose to be in Kansas City to support her husband as he embarked on his 14th NFL season, which could potentially be his last.

Swift has become a familiar face at Arrowhead Stadium since she began dating Kelce in 2023, regularly drawing attention from fans and television cameras during Chiefs games.

Monday’s matchup with the Broncos nevertheless carried added significance: it was the first time Swift had watched Kelce from his luxury suite as his wife.

Swift and the three-time Super Bowl champion exchanged vows in a lavish, celebrity-filled ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3.

Kelce opened up on his star-studded wedding earlier this month, sharing behind-the scenes details of the lavish bash.

‘At this point we are what one month out, it’s been so much fun,’ he told his brother Jason, who served as his best man, on their New Heights podcast.

‘It was insane, it was a night I’ll never forget. Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up. From the vows to seeing everyone, and how much fun we had that evening, and hearing that being relieved through everyone’s stories of that night. It was just magical man.

‘I wish it could have lasted longer than that, once the drinks got served everyone started moving out.’

Jason, a Philadelphia Eagles legend and ESPN analyst, joked that the stragglers had to be kicked out of the iconic New York arena when they tried to keep the drinks flowing and the party going.

Despite Jason’s quip, Travis gushed over MSG for providing the newlyweds with a private setting.

The couple invited some of the biggest names in pop culture and sport with the likes of Selena Gomez, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Tom Hanks and a host of Kelce’s teammates making up the star-studded guestlist, while Adam Sandler officiated.

But, despite the scale of the event, Travis insisted that the 20,000-seat arena provided an intimate setting as he thanked the MSG staff for keeping the details of the occasion under wraps.

‘I wanna thank everyone at MSG, we wanted to do it somewhere where we could have an intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions,’ he said. ‘We needed to have a private feel, and MSG went above and beyond to give us that.

‘I can’t thank everybody enough, not just who showed up but helped put that show on.

‘[…] It was very cool to see how everyone interacted with no phones, everyone is on guard, it makes everyone be in the moment and present. It was cool to see friends of my childhood and of Taylor’s all the way to people we encountered through our careers and became good friends with. We wanted it to be a beautiful ceremony and made sure everyone left there having some fun.’
