Terrorism task force probes armed loon who set off 'incendiary device' outside NYC fed HQ

An armed man set off what authorities described as an “incendiary device” outside a federal building in Lower Manhattan early Monday, prompting an investigation by the FBI’s terrorism task force, officials and law enforcement sources said.

The incident unfolded around 8:30 a.m. outside 26 Federal Plaza, where the unidentified suspect allegedly started a fire, ignited fireworks and threatened people nearby with airsoft rifles, according to police and sources familiar with the case.

Federal police arrested the suspect at the scene.

“This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza,” the FBI told Fox News in a statement confirming the incident.

“The individual has been taken into custody and the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident.”

The suspect ignited fireworks and threatened passersby around 8:30 a.m., according to police and sources. FNTV

Sources told The Post the man had been pulling a cart that contained two long firearms, additional fireworks and other items.

One person sustained minor injuries during the episode and was transported to a nearby hospital, sources said.
