Residents of Texas have been advised to stay indoors until Wednesday as a powerful winter storm approaches, affecting large swathes of the country.
Winter Storm Fern is anticipated to make a significant impact over the weekend, with nearly 230 million Americans nationwide preparing for plunging temperatures and substantial snowfall.
Emergency declarations have been issued in at least 16 states, including Washington D.C., to unlock federal resources for emergency response efforts.

“We strongly advise against being on the roads, especially during the next 48 to 72 hours,” Oden told CNN.
Oden added that his emergency teams were keeping an eye on ‘critical infrastructure’ as the storm approached.
‘The biggest thing we’re watching is all of our critical infrastructure,’ he said
