A Texas mother allegedly told responding officers, “I shot both my kids,” after her two sons were found shot inside their Waxahachie home, authorities said.
Colleen Lemmon, 42, faces two capital murder charges in connection with the deaths of her sons, who were shot Thursday morning in Waxahachie, roughly 30 miles south of Dallas, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived at the home after a 911 call was placed at about 4:15 a.m. They found Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by NBC 5 DFW.
Brian Pitre, 15, was also found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died, his family told the news outlet.
Investigators said the brothers were located in separate bedrooms. Lemmon was found inside the home covered in blood, with a firearm beside her, police said.
When officers questioned her about the blood, Lemmon allegedly replied, “I shot both my kids,” according to the affidavit.
Scott Pitre, the boys’ father, said following the fatal shooting that his only wish was to see justice for his sons.
The grieving father told the outlet that the family had gathered at a lake just days earlier to celebrate Brian’s 15th birthday on Sunday.

Colleen Lemmon, 42, has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of her sons. Authorities said both victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head.
