Republican Representative Thomas Massie has embarked on a new chapter of his life by remarrying, following the passing of his first wife last year.

The 54-year-old congressman from Kentucky tied the knot with Carolyn Grace Moffa, who is 36, during a ceremony in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The event was graced by the presence of notable figures such as Senator Rand Paul and Representatives Jim Jordan, Warren Davidson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Victoria Spartz.

This marriage comes in the wake of Massie’s loss of his wife of 31 years, Rhonda, who was also the mother of their four children. She passed away on June 27, 2024.

The couple’s connection dates back to 2016 when Moffa was employed by Senator Paul. Massie recalls that she once visited his late wife, Rhonda, at their farm in Kentucky several years ago.

The timing of Massie’s nuptials has stirred controversy, drawing criticism from some quarters. Among the critics is Laura Loomer, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and frequent critic of Massie, known for his opposition to the former president.

“Who gets married one year after their wife of 30 years passes away? Bizarre,” Loomer commented on X, expressing her disapproval.

Allie Voss, a Christian influencer, commented: ‘Torn to be honest, marrying the year after your spouse dies is FAST. That said I’ve also heard people remarry faster after happy marriages.’

Massie announced the wedding on Sunday, writing on X: ‘Carolyn Grace Moffa and I first met professionally over a decade ago when she worked for Senator Rand Paul.

‘As Senator Paul’s Ag policy staffer until 2016, Carolyn was a very early proponent and practitioner of Making America Healthy Again. She even visited me and my late wife Rhonda on our grass-fed cattle farm several years ago.’

He said that Moffa, who has not previously been married, will live with him on his farm in Kentucky.

‘I have four adult children, who are all married to wonderful people, and three grandchildren from my blessed 31 year marriage to Rhonda who I still miss every day,’ Massie added.

The Republican lawmaker, who has voiced support for RFK Jr’s health policies, proudly stated that raw milk was served with the wedding cake, along with peaches from his farm.

He revealed that he proposed to Moffa on the steps of the Library of Congress — the site of their first date.

‘Please pray for us as Carolyn steps into the arena with me. With her support, I look forward to continuing my fight for freedom for the great people of Kentucky,’ Massie wrote.

The Kentuckian announced last year that his wife Rhonda had died at the age of 51, without revealing her cause of death.

‘Yesterday my high school sweetheart, the love of my life for over 35 years, the loving mother of our 4 children, the smartest kindest woman I ever knew, my beautiful and wise queen forever, Rhonda went to Heaven. Thank you for your prayers for our family in this difficult time,’ he wrote at the time on X.

The GOPer previously shot down ‘internet conspiracy theories’ about his wife’s passing after people claimed her death was the result of the COVID vaccine.

‘She did not take the COVID shots (we were both seropositive by the time they became available), our house is very secure, family was in the house the night she passed, and an autopsy has been conducted (we do not yet have results),’ Massie wrote in the post.
