Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, is missing, and her absence is causing deep concern among family and friends, especially since she lacks critical medication. Jenna Hager, host of the Today show, shared this troubling update on Monday, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

In a heartfelt statement made 36 hours after Nancy, 84, disappeared from her $1 million residence in Tucson, Arizona, Hager expressed her personal connection to the family. “I know her personally. It’s vital to note she requires daily medication crucial for her survival,” Hager stated, highlighting the gravity of the circumstances.

Hager also voiced her support and compassion for Savannah and her entire family, expressing that they are all in her thoughts and prayers. The absence of Nancy’s medication only adds to the distress surrounding her disappearance.

Earlier on Monday, the Today show reported that the FBI is now involved in the case, and homicide detectives are actively investigating after discovering some “concerning” evidence at Nancy’s home. This development underscores the seriousness of the situation.

The disappearance of Nancy was the leading story on Monday morning’s broadcast of the show. NBC’s leading crime expert, Tom Winter, confirmed the FBI’s awareness and involvement, noting the significant nature of what was discovered at the scene.

Winter added: ‘We are withholding some details, as we would do with any investigation, to make sure the investigation could go forward without us interfering in it.

Guthrie, 54, was not at work on Monday but issued a statement via Today, saying: ‘I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. 

‘We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone, anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s office at 520-351-4900.’

Nancy was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson around 9:45pm MST Saturday night.

No further details of the ‘concerning evidence’ found at Nancy’s home have been shared. 

Today revealed that Customs and Border Patrol have joined sheriff’s deputies in the hunt for Nancy, whose home sits close to the Mexican border. 

Drones and a sheriff’s plane have been deployed to try and track her down.  

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the search for Nancy is still being treated as a search and rescue operation but was unable to rule out the possibility of foul play.

Investigators said Nancy was not showing any signs of cognitive issues around the time of her disappearance. 

Host Craig Melvin conveyed how close to home the story was to the Today team, telling viewers: ‘This is very concerning to us.

‘We don’t typically get involved at a scene like this, but it’s very concerning.’
