Lady Gaga will be making her long-awaited return to the MTV Video Music Awards stage after a five-year absence.

The 39-year-old superstar, who has been performing globally during her sold-out Mayhem Ball Tour, was confirmed to join the star-studded lineup this week.

On Saturday, the awards ceremony’s official Instagram page revealed that ‘there will be magic in the air’ as Mother Monster brings her latest hits to the VMAs stage.

She will perform alongside a highly anticipated lineup, including Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone, Tate McRae, and J Balvin, among others.

The MTV Video Music Awards is scheduled for September 7 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

This exciting announcement follows shortly after the Abracadabra hitmaker appeared with Jenna Ortega at Netflix’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City, ahead of her cameo premiere in the second season of the hit series.

The last time Gaga graced the VMAs stage was in 2020, when she performed with Ariana Grande, delivering their chart-topping dance-pop collaboration, Rain On Me.

In addition to her highly anticipated performance, Gaga is also expected to take home multiple awards at this year’s ceremony.

The singer-songwriter leads this year’s list with 12 nominations, including nods in major categories like Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Album.

Gaga already has 18 VMA wins under her belt and her fans are anticipating her to add even more accolades this year.

This year also marks the third time that Gaga led MTV’s list of VMA nominees.

She previously topped the list with 13 nods in 2010 and again in 2020 tying for first with nine total nominations.

Currently, Gaga is performing her hits amid her ongoing tour in support of her seventh album: Mayhem.

She kicked off her Mayhem Ball Tour in Las Vegas back in July.

Then she will head Down Under in December before flying to Japan to kick off the New Year with two shows in Osaka and four in Tokyo in late January 2026.

The artist has also been teasing a new single, The Dead Dance, ahead of her much-awaited cameo in Wednesday.

She will be making an appearance in season two’s second part, which will debut concurrently with her new song on September 3.

That weekend, she will take the stage on September 7 at the MTV VMAs, which will be hosted by LL Cool J.
