Top Democratic congressman says no one in Trump's family is off limits

The Democrat expected to lead investigations into Donald Trump has warned that no member of the president’s family will be beyond scrutiny, telling Trump and his allies to “lawyer up.”

Robert Garcia issued the combative message after Democrats were projected to take control in a dramatic blue wave on Tuesday night.

Garcia, a California congressman and the current ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said his party intends to examine the Trump family’s business dealings once it assumes power.

“If you are part of that family, you have been involved in grift, and we’ve seen that,” Garcia told Aaron Parnas.

He pointed to Donald Trump Jr.’s “red wedding,” the lavish ceremony held earlier this year that was reportedly funded by a Russian oligarch.

Bride Bettina rejected the speculation in a series of previously unseen photographs posted on September 14, referring to the Russian national Umar as “our dear friend.”

Garcia also said all of Trump’s sons could face questions over their roles on corporate boards involving companies that were “essentially getting contracts from the Pentagon.”

He cited alleged cryptocurrency schemes and Jared Kushner’s ties to Saudi Arabia as additional areas of interest, adding that “the list goes on and on and on.”

“There are serious issues here and serious allegations involving what they have been doing,” Garcia said, pointing to claims of pay-to-play arrangements.

He promised “real hearings” and a push for justice, arguing that the investigations would serve a broader purpose.

“This corruption is hurting American families. While people struggle to pay for gas, groceries and rent, the Trumps are getting richer and using their connections. They are taking from you to enrich themselves,” he said.

Garcia framed the promised investigations as part of the Democrats’ broader midterm focus on accountability and affordability.

A White House official told Our News Outlet that Trump remains firmly in control of the federal government and the political agenda in Washington.

“If crazed Democrats want to abuse their power and politicize investigations, subpoenas and efforts that could destroy lives, they should remember that we still control the federal government and all of its powers,” the official said.

White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said the president remains willing to work with anyone to deliver what she called victories for hardworking Americans, while issuing another warning to Democrats.

“As the president has said, he is willing to work with anyone to continue delivering victories for hardworking Americans. If Democrats choose sham investigations and radical left-wing policies, they are choosing to work against the American people,” Bis said.

Trump is expected to spend the final two years of his second term confronting corruption investigations involving himself and his family, legislative gridlock, spending disputes and possible government shutdowns. A third impeachment battle could also emerge, creating a difficult path to the end of his presidency.

Democrats will take control of House committees in January, giving them subpoena authority and access to funding for new investigations.

Garcia, who is expected to become chairman of the House Oversight Committee, told Republicans on Tuesday night to “lawyer up.”

He and other senior Democrats have pledged to launch a broad series of probes involving Trump, his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Potential areas of inquiry include the family’s cryptocurrency ventures, financing for projects such as the White House ballroom, and Trump’s acceptance of a Qatari jet intended for use as Air Force One.

Democrats could even seek testimony from Melania Trump and Barron Trump, while Trump’s legal team is reportedly preparing a forceful defense of the family.

A Democratic congressional official told Our News Outlet: “Anything connected to the Trump family will be examined from day one. Anyone working with the Trump administration, along with any allegations of corporate corruption, will also be high on the list.

“We will also investigate alleged abuses involving DHS and ICE, as well as the continued investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.”

Elon Musk may also come under scrutiny as Democrats examine his companies and his involvement with DOGE.

Trump has responded by saying he would issue preemptive pardons to protect Musk and members of his administration who could become targets.
