Trump threatens 'weak minded' Boebert with primary after she campaigns for Massie

President Donald Trump is gearing up for a political showdown.

In a bold move on social media this past Saturday, the former president called for challengers to step forward against Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.). This comes after Boebert campaigned for Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a known opponent of Trump.

“Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District? You remember Lauren moved to the District when it became obvious that she couldn’t win in her original Congressional District (The Third!) — A Carpetbagger, indeed!” Trump posted on Truth Social, showcasing his displeasure.

Boebert, who strategically relocated to the more conservative 4th district in preparation for her 2024 reelection bid, made appearances with Massie at two campaign events in Kentucky last Friday. Massie is currently under pressure from a primary challenge led by Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL who has secured Trump’s endorsement.

Massie has faced ongoing accusations of disloyalty from Trump, partly due to his outspoken criticism of the former president. In a notable remark earlier this year, Massie accused Trump of associating with an elite class he called the “Epstein class.”

“Donald Trump told us that even though, you know, he had dinner with these kinds of people in New York City and West Palm Beach, that he would be transparent. But he’s not. He’s still in with the Epstein class. This is the Epstein administration,” Massie expressed during an interview with ABC’s This Week back in February.

Massie has long been a thorn in the president’s side, and refused to vote for his signature “Big Beautiful Bill” and has long been a critic of his foreign policy in Venezuela and Iran.

Trump blasted Massie as “the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country,” and said that Boebert’s decision to campaign for him made her deserving of a primary.

“Anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!” Trump posted.

Boebert, who was once kicked out of the Beetlejuice musical after getting caught groping and vaping in the theater, has been a longtime Trump loyalist, but their relationship has soured in recent days.

She clashed with the president after she backed Massie’s bill to release the Epstein files and criticized President Trump after he vetoed legislation that would have completed a project to send drinking water to Southern Colorado in Dec. 2025.

“Yes, I saw the President’s post. No, I’m not mad or offended. I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie,” Boebert posted on X Saturday.

Trump has previously endorsed Boebert, but said he would revoke his endorsement if “right person came along.”

“It would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative. Just let me know, or announce your Candidacy, and I will be there for you!” Trump posted.
