President Trump attacked Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff as a “far-left extremist” during a Georgia rally Saturday, while also pledging to bring new jobs and investment to the state.
Trump criticized Ossoff’s support for policies he blamed for inflation and record-high illegal immigration during the Biden administration.
“Jon Ossoff is a far-left extremist that votes to destroy everything Georgia values,” Trump said, drawing boos from the crowd directed at the Democratic senator.
The president also announced plans for a new Audi facility in Macon, Georgia, saying the project would create thousands of jobs.
“Audi has just committed to invest 4.2 billion dollars in nearby Macon — to begin construction next month on a massive plant that will produce 200,000 cars per year,” Trump told the cheering audience.
Trump held the event in Perry, Georgia, to campaign for Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.), who is challenging Ossoff for his Senate seat, and Rick Jackson, who is running for governor against former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms.
Ossoff, considered a leading potential contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, holds an eight-point lead over Collins, 48% to 40%, while 12% of voters remain undecided, according to the latest AJC poll.
