President Donald Trump unveiled his new White House patio to Washington insiders, referred to as the ‘Rose Garden Club,’ causing quite a stir among liberals.
The 79-year-old Republican hosted a dinner on the freshly paved patio on Friday evening, extending invitations solely to senators, members of Congress, and “individuals capable of fostering peace and success for our nation,” as he addressed attendees.
The exclusive evening’s menu offered a variety of choices, including the Rose Garden salad, New York strip steak, thyme-roasted chicken, summer pasta primavera, and a sumptuous seven-layer fudge-filled cake for dessert.
This dinner followed another event, where the president and First Lady were forced to relocate a similar gathering for top tech leaders from the Rose Garden to the State Dining Room due to a sudden downpour.
Several individuals, such as Speaker Mike Johnson, Texas Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, and Rep. Ronny Jackson, expressed gratitude to the president for their invitation and hailed the evening as “epic,” although liberals perceived the event quite differently.
California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized Trump and his allies through social media posts about the Rose Garden celebration for “toasting with Diet Cokes” instead of addressing the economic issues of the country.
‘Our economy is in a downward spiral, but don’t worry — the @GOP are spending their time cheersing Diet Cokes at a new, exclusive “club”,’ Newsom wrote alongside Johnson’s post on X about the event.
The Democrat, who is known for being vocal against the commander-in-chief, went on to refer to the event as the ‘grand opening of the Predator Patio,’ referring to the ongoing controversy of the apparent Jeffrey Epstein list.

Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne shared several photos rom the night, including a snap with Trump (pictured)

Newsom added: ‘Welcome to Predator Patio! Admission? Just prove you’re on the Epstein List!’
He also took a dig at Johnson personally, adding: ‘After ripping health care from 17 million Americans and slashing food stamps for kids, we’re glad Mike “Marie Antoinette” Johnson and his boy friends had time to toast the grand opening of Predator Patio.’
The iconic space was recently renovated to a more patio-like area, complete with yellow and white striped umbrellas from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.
Trump ruffled some feathers by paving over what had previously been green space but he said it was needed due to soggy conditions mucking up women’s heels.
The governor wasn’t the only one left upset about the event, as another took to X stating: ‘The Rose Garden CLUB ???? WTF? Seriously???’
‘Disgusting,’ another wrote.
Someone else commented on the appearance of the new rose garden, saying: ‘Looks like a rundown mall food court.’
‘Remember when you are clipping coupons and stretching your budget at the grocery store, that Trump has your tax dollars paying for dinner parties on his rose garden patio,’ a user said.
While many were not happy about the event and opening of what once was a green space, Trump’s supporters were very pleased with how the night turned out.

‘I had a wonderful time at the grand opening of the Rose Garden Club at the White House with @POTUS,’ Van Duyne wrote alongside several images and a clip showing the festivities.
‘It was a beautiful evening, and a great reminder that we’re not tired of winning for the American people!
‘I look forward to building on this momentum as we work to lower costs, increase take home pay, expand job growth, and further limit the federal government.’
Republican Congressman John Rode echoed Van Duyne’s sentiment, calling the new space ‘beautiful.’
‘The new Rose Garden Club is beautiful. Thanks to @POTUS for making quick work for a gorgeous addition to the @WhiteHouse. It was a great night,’ the Tennessean wrote.

The president and his wife Melania were set to host a dinner Thursday for tech leaders, but an afternoon downpour soaked the White House campus, leading it to be moved inside.
A large, rectangular table was set up, with the president and first lady flanked by tech titans Bill Gates and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
‘I know all of them indirectly, and I know some of them very well, but I know everybody at the table indirectly through reading about you and studying,’ the president said, greeting the intimate group.
Attendees also consisted of Apple’s Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin, who brought along his girlfriend Gerelyn Gilbert-Soto, who Trump complimented, calling her his ‘really wonderful MAGA girlfriend.’
Brin was previously married to Nicole Shanahan, who served as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate during his 2024 independent presidential bid.
Trump asked the tech leaders to speak and then opened it up to questions from reporters.
