2 found dead in Sycamore home on Oakland Drive; 1 detained in Rockford area: DeKalb County Sheriff's Office

SYCAMORE, Ill. (WLS) — Two people were found dead in a DeKalb County home Tuesday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded about 8:40 a.m. to the 1300-block of Oakland Drive in Sycamore for a wellbeing check, police said.

When they arrived, they found two people dead inside a home.

Police did not provide any additional information about what happened to the individuals.

Local schools were placed on lockdown, as the sheriff’s office worked to determine who was responsible, police said.

A vehicle was also missing from the home.

The vehicle was later found in the Rockford area through a license plate reader.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle, and the driver has been detained as part of the investigation.

“This unfortunate event is truly tragic, and the Sheriff’s Office is committed to working tirelessly to ensure justice for the victims and their families,” stated the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
