PRESIDENT Donald Trump’s intelligence chief, Tulsi Gabbard, shared a perplexing video message that issued a warning about “nuclear annihilation”, while criticizing “elites with bomb shelters”.

In the alarming footage, 44-year-old Tulsi Gabbard discussed her recent visit to Hiroshima, Japan, where she witnessed the consequences of the US nuclear attack on the city during World War II.

The shocking video shows clips of Gabbard’s trip as well as archival footage showing victims of the bombing.

As the footage rolls, the US Director of National Intelligence speaks directly to the camera on the consequences of a nuclear attack.

She delivered a grave warning, emphasizing that due to the increased power of modern nuclear weapons compared to those used in 1945, “a single nuclear weapon today could kill millions in minutes”.

Gabbard told her 3.7 million X followers: “This is the reality of what’s at stake, what we are facing now.

“Because as we stand here today, closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before, political elite warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers.”

She even suggested that people in power are aware they would be unaffected by such consequences as they’d have access to “nuclear shelters”.

Gabbard went on: “It’s up to us, the people, to speak up and demand an end to this madness.

“We must reject this path to nuclear war and work toward a world where no one has to live in fear of a nuclear holocaust.”

It is currently unclear when Gabbard made the video, but she travelled to Japan last week and visited a US military base with George Glass, the US Ambassador to Japan.

The intel chief hadn’t visited Hiroshima in her first trip to the country in March, according to a readout from her office.

Reflecting on the damage caused by the Hiroshima bombing, Gabbard added: “This attack obliterated the city, killed over 300,000 people, many dying instantly, while others died from severe burns, injuries, radiation, sickness and cancer that set in the following months and years.

“Nagasaki suffered the same fate: homes, schools, families; all gone in a flash.”

Many took to the comments of the baffling video to call it “unhinged” among other things.

Upon being asked to explain Gabbard’s bizarre video, her deputy chief of staff Alexa Henning jumped to the intel chief’s defence, saying that her concern on nuclear war is shared by Trump.

Henning said: “President Trump has repeatedly stated in the past that he recognizes the immeasurable suffering, and annihilation can be caused by nuclear war, which is why he has been unequivocal that we all need to do everything possible to work towards peace.

“DNI Gabbard supports President Trump’s clearly stated objectives of bringing about lasting peace and stability and preventing war.”

Gabbard – an ex-Democratic congresswoman and presidential candidate – has previously made stark warnings of nuclear war before her party switch last year.

In her 2019 presidential campaign, she said the world is “on the precipice of nuclear war,” and was an advocate for bolstering nuclear treaties in Congress.

An X post of Gabbard’s from 2023 reads: “The warmongers are trying to drag us into WW3, which can only end in one way: nuclear annihilation and the suffering and death of all our loved ones.

“Zelensky, Biden, NATO, congressional and media neocons are insane.

“And we are insane if we passively allow them to lead us into this holocaust like sheep to the slaughter.”
