FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A tragedy unfolded in Palm Coast when a woman lost her life in a single-car accident on Saturday afternoon. She was partially outside an SUV when it collided with a dumpster, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened around 2:11 p.m. at Roberts Road and Orion Drive, trooper said.

The crash report from the FHP revealed that the 78-year-old was heading north on Roberts Road when she inexplicably began to exit the SUV.

The vehicle veered off the road, hitting a dumpster on its left side, which led to the woman being caught between the dumpster and the vehicle’s door frame, according to the report.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. Troopers believe she wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the crash.
