This morning, a significant police operation brought several schools in Sydney’s north-west to a temporary lockdown, which has now been resolved.

Authorities were alerted around 10:25 a.m. about an individual reportedly carrying firearms along Guardian Avenue in Beaumont Hills, located roughly 40 kilometers from the city center.

In response, nearby schools implemented lockdown procedures as a safety measure, and the public was advised to steer clear of the area due to the heightened police activity.

Officers conducted an extensive search and were able to locate and approach the person in question.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the supposed firearms were merely toy guns, picked up during a local cleanup effort.

“Following a thorough search and inquiries, we were able to speak with the individual and confirm that the firearms were actually toys collected from a local cleanup,” a police representative stated.

“Police commenced a large search of the area and, following inquiries, were able to speak to the person and established the firearms seen were toys that had been picked up from a local cleanup,” a police spokesperson said.

Several schools in Sydney's north-west have been plunged into lockdown and the public is being asked to avoid the area due to a major police operation.
