An additional individual suffered injuries that are not life-threatening; these were reportedly due to a beating instead of a shooting. He is currently receiving medical care at a hospital.

Local police said they had not yet determined a motive for the shooting of the men, aged in their 30s.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) confirmed the man’s death and said they were providing consular assistance to his family.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” a DFAT spokesperson said.

“DFAT stands ready to provide consular assistance to another Australian injured in the same incident.”

The villa has been sealed off by police as they gather evidence at the scene and interview witnesses.
