LA shooting leaves 2 dead, dozens detained near California State University Northridge

At least two people were killed and dozens were detained after a shooting Friday night at a strip mall near a Los Angeles college, according to reports.

The shooting erupted shortly after 11 p.m. at University Plaza, a popular shopping center located one block from the California State University Northridge campus, KABC reported.

Police had been summoned to the plaza because of reports of a large party when officers heard gunfire, according to the outlet.

One person was also stabbed during the ensuing chaos, NBC4 reported.

Dozens of people were detained outside the plaza after reportedly being inside a nearby lounge when the shooting occurred.

Aerial video from KABC showed officers speaking with the handcuffed individuals inside a crime scene perimeter that covered several businesses at the plaza.

Authorities have not announced any arrests.

Officials have not disclosed the condition of those injured or provided further details about what led to the shooting.

The Post has contacted the LAPD for comment.
