CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox and Cubs made their selections in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday.
The draft got underway Sunday on ESPN.

The White Sox used their No. 10 overall selection in the first round to pick Billy Carlson, an 18-year-old shortstop from Corona High School in California. Carlson is committed to the University of Tennessee.
The Cubs selected Ethan Conrad with the No. 17 overall pick in the first round. He is a right fielder for Wake Forest.
The Washington Nationals started things off earlier in the draft by taking prep shortstop Eli Willits with the No. 1 overall pick.
The Los Angeles Angels then chose college pitcher Tyler Bremner, while the Seattle Mariners selected another pitcher, Kade Anderson, with the third pick. The Colorado Rockies opted for prep shortstop Ethan Holliday at fourth overall, a player who was considered a potential first overall pick. The St. Louis Cardinals closed out the top five with their selection of college pitcher Liam Doyle.
