In Jacksonville, two men are on the mend following separate domestic shooting incidents, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office early on Saturday.

The first incident unfolded on Halloween night, around 10 p.m., while the second took place shortly after, at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both men involved sustained injuries that, fortunately, are not life-threatening.

According to Sergeant Mitlyng from JSO, officers were dispatched to the 8500 block of Jasper Avenue in response to a shooting call. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man in his 30s who had been shot once.

The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, and his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Mitlyng elaborated, stating, “The preliminary investigation indicates that both the suspect and the victim reside together. A dispute between them escalated, resulting in the suspect shooting the victim.”

Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved are accounted for and are currently being interviewed by detectives to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

The man was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Mitlyng.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect and victim live together and a dispute occurred between them, which led to the suspect shooting the victim,” Mitlyng said. “All parties are accounted for and are being interviewed by detectives.”

Early Saturday morning shooting

Around 12:30 a.m., JSO’s Sergeant Richardson said officers responded to the 9400 block of Thorn Glen Road in reference to a man being shot.

When officers arrived, Richardson said the man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

“The investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were in a domestic dispute,” Richardson said. “During the dispute, the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots in the direction of the victim, striking him once in the foot. The injury the victim sustained is considered non-life-threatening at this time.”

Richardson further told First Coast News that officers detained the suspect and that detectives spoke to witnesses.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
