Not the driver he was looking for.

A 70-year-old golfer sustained serious injuries after being hit by a black SUV while on a Chicago-area golf course. A car chase had unexpectedly turned the fairways into an impromptu freeway, as seen in a shocking video.

The elderly golfer was struck at Billy Caldwell Golf Course in Edgebrook on Monday by an out-of-control and “angry” SUV driver, who was being chased by a silver sedan driven by a golf course staffer, according to eyewitnesses speaking to ABC 7.

“The silver sedan starts pursuing the SUV, who’s just intent on doing hot laps around the course,” golfer Ed Waters told the outlet.

“He’s, like, honking at him, trying to pit-maneuver the guy.”

Another witness said the cars were “flying across the golf course,” the report stated.

Video showed the sedan aggressively pursuing the SUV across the rolling hills of the greens as several wedge swingers looked on in horror.

During the pursuit, the SUV driver mowed down the unidentified golfer near the fifth hole of the course — and kept going, ABC 7 reported.

Nearby, Jim Wolfer had heard the commotion, and walked out of his house, which sits right next to the course.

“I come out, and I see this older gentleman laying there in the grass, with two golfer ladies attending to him,” said Jim Wolfer, a local resident. “I went over, and he wasn’t moving, but when I approached, he opened his eyes and was able to speak.”

“The GM of the course chased him down to the other hole back there, where there’s no outlet, and so kind of pinned him in there, and then the cops came,” golfer Jim Wolfer told the station, adding, “But he’s the hero. He chased the guy.”

Another bystander told the outlet the driver flashed what could have been a 3-inch blade when exiting his vehicle.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit, the report stated.

The SUV driver is in custody with charges pending.
