A 95-year-old woman was arrested in New York after allegedly bludgeoning her 89-year-old nursing home roommate to death with a wheelchair pedal.

Officials have charged Galina Smirnova, 95, with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. She was transferred to another hospital ahead of her upcoming hearing.

Authorities reported that a nurse discovered 89-year-old Nina Kravtsov, a Holocaust survivor from Ukraine, unresponsive and covered in blood on Sunday at the Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Coney Island, as per a report from affiliate FOX 5.

Approximately an hour after she was last observed sleeping, the nurse found Kravtsov with severe facial injuries, while her roommate, Smirnova, was in their shared bathroom cleaning blood off her hands and clothing, the report stated.
