An Aaron Rodgers-Steelers resolution could be coming soon

Aaron Rodgers may soon be on his way to the Steelers, putting an end to the uncertainty about the next chapter for the future Hall of Famer after the Jets released him this offseason.

The author of the Rodgers biography, “Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers,” and former Post columnist Ian O’Connor told  93.7 The Fan’s The PM Team that he could see the quarterback joining the Steelers by the end of the month.

Rodgers has been linked to the Steelers, but he has remained largely mum about his plans for the upcoming season.

“I just think verbally, behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he’s told [the Steelers], ‘Listen, I’m gonna play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all.’ So that’s where I think he is,” O’Connor said during the appearance.

It had been a bit of a surprise that Rodgers’ decision had carried into the later months of the offseason after the Jets announced they would part ways with him back in February.

In his only comments on the situation, Rodgers did say during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he was dealing with personal issues with people close to him, though O’Connor didn’t think it was “something that would prevent him” from playing this season.

Rodgers spent two seasons in New York with the Jets, where he played just one offensive series his first year in 2023 before a devastating season-ending Achilles injury in the first game of the year.

The Jets went 5-12 last season with Rodgers under center.

“He knows it was an embarrassment in New York largely, and he’s the face of that embarrassment,” O’Connor said about the QB. “Whether that’s fair or not, that’s the case. It may be me as an optimist, but I think this is gonna work out [with the Steelers].”
