A BEST-selling children’s toy at Walmart and Amazon is being pulled from shelves after a toddler suffocated to death.

The toy has been linked to a fatal incident involving a 23-month-old who became trapped and couldn’t free himself.

It poses a serious risk of asphyxiation and strangulation for young children.

The KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchen is now under a nationwide recall, with about 192,000 units affected.

A tragic incident took place in Oregon in February 2023. The toddler’s shirt became entangled on one of the toy’s hooks while he was crawling through an opening, as reported by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The child was unable to escape and died from strangulation and asphyxia.

Backyard Kids, LLC, based in Plano, Texas, about 20 miles north of Dallas, issued the voluntary recall Thursday.

The company said only about 400 of the affected play kitchens were directly sold to consumers by them.

The toy was made by KidKraft, Inc., which filed for bankruptcy in May 2024.

Despite that, Backyard Kids is offering free replacement hooks to anyone who owns the recalled model.

The toy kitchen includes plastic or metal hooks designed to hold play accessories like pots and pans.

These hooks can snag on children’s clothing if they climb or crawl through the toy’s structure.

No other injuries or similar incidents have been reported so far.

The play kitchens were sold online from 2018 through July 2025.

They were available on Amazon, Walmart, and KidKraft.com for between $120 and $270.

Each unit is black and light gray with wood-style countertops, and measures 44 inches long, 13¾ inches wide, and 43 inches tall.

Back in July, a popular children’s toy sold at Walmart faced scrutiny due to toxic safety concerns. Now, parents are advised to respond promptly to ensure their children’s safety.

A pink children’s bicycle sold online between August and December 2024 has been recalled due to high levels of lead found in the paint on its pump.

Health officials fear that the lead contamination could pose serious risks to young children if ingested.
