TLC might not have wanted “No Scrubs,” but ABC wants some — and is officially getting it, too.

A revival of Scrubs, the medical comedy featuring Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, initially debuted on NBC in 2001 and later moved to ABC in 2009, has been greenlit for a series order at ABC, as reported by Variety on July 10.

The publication notes that the show’s original creator, Bill Lawrence, is set to return as executive producer for the revival of the Scrubs series, alongside stars Braff, Faison, and Chalke, with other former cast members also gearing up to reprise their roles at Sacred Heart Hospital.

In a statement, Lawrene said that Scrubs “means so very much” to him.

“So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” he added.

Braff had earlier mentioned to Entertainment Tonight in August 2024 what he thought was hindering a Scrubs reboot, while expressing hope for its possibility.

Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill [Lawrence] has a Warner Bros. deal,” he explained. “Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen.”

Then in December, reports poured in that a Scrubs reboot was in the works.

Per Variety, Braff and Faison return as Dr. JD Dorian and Dr. Christopher Turk, as they “scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time.”

“Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way,” the logline continues.

The two actors also serve as executive producers alongside Chalke, who played Dr. Elliot Reed. Braff teased the news with a GIF of him and Faison on Instagram, while Faison and Chalke each celebrated the announcement with their own throwback posts.

All nine seasons of Scrubs are streaming on Hulu and Peacock.
