PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WIAT) — A man was recently apprehended in Mississippi, accused of allegedly abducting his ex-girlfriend from her residence in southern Alabama and sexually assaulting her.

Around 9 a.m. on Thursday, officers from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a Circle K gas station in St. Martin, Mississippi, where a woman reported she had been taken from her Alabama home and sexually assaulted by her former boyfriend.

The victim stated she managed to escape from her ex, identified as Melvin Hill of Mobile, Alabama, after fleeing the store and notifying employees about her predicament.

Hill reportedly tried to flee back to Alabama, but was later arrested by deputies.

Hill faces charges of kidnapping, motor vehicle theft, and sexual battery. He is currently detained at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s Adult Detention Center.

More charges from surrounding jurisdictions could be coming.
