An Alabama teenager is accused of fatally stabbing his mother and attacking his father, both military parents, in a violent incident that left neighbors horrified as the wounded dad ran through the neighborhood pleading for help.
Samantha Baker, 37, and her husband, Lance Baker, 46, were discovered with multiple stab wounds outside their home in the Belforest community of Baldwin County, Alabama, around 9 p.m. Sunday, according to WALA.
The couple, who reportedly met while serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, had tried to escape after an argument with their son over discipline escalated into the deadly attack, the outlet reported.
Authorities said the 17-year-old, whose name has not been released, allegedly stabbed his parents both inside and outside the house before barricading himself inside and calling police, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Samantha Baker, who worked as a realtor, was pronounced dead, while first responders airlifted her husband to a hospital in critical condition.
Lance Baker, a battalion commander in the U.S. Army Reserve, managed to get out of the home and went from door to door shouting for help, telling neighbors he “didn’t want to die,” witnesses said.
“That was probably the hardest part — was pulling up my camera and listening to it and listening to the father yelling for help… please help me… I don’t want to die,” Shawn Scurry told the outlet.
“And it just carried on down and it looks like he was trying to find an open door and I didn’t know where he was or where anybody was.”

Friends remembered the slain mother for her bravery and caringness.

The family’s younger teen son was not at the home at the time of the attack, police said.
“It is really sad. It’s very sad for this family, having to deal with it,” Baldwin County Sheriff Capt. Justin Correa said, according to WALA.
