The Alabama teenager accused of fatally stabbing his mother and seriously wounding his father during a knife attack inside the family’s home has been identified as Brandon Baker, the eldest son of the military couple.
Brandon, 17, was taken into custody Sunday on charges of murder and attempted murder after the violent incident that killed his mother, Samantha Baker, 37, and left his father, Lance Baker, 46, badly injured and pleading for help.
Authorities had not publicly named the teen because of his age, but a next-door neighbor in the Baldwin County community where the attack took place confirmed to The Post on Tuesday that the suspect arrested was Brandon, the older of the couple’s two sons.
A social media account maintained by Samantha also indicates that Brandon is 17 — matching the age released by police — and was preparing to enter his senior year of high school.
The Facebook page portrayed a smiling family of four, with Samantha often appearing as a devoted mother to her two boys. In past posts, she celebrated Brandon’s junior prom photos and reflected on how quickly he was growing up, referring to him affectionately as “my baby.”
Samantha, who worked in real estate, frequently shared family photos on the Facebook account she had with Lance, including images from high school football games and church services.
In one lighthearted post, she wrote, “Welcome to the Baker house. We laugh then holler then act like nothing happened until it’s time to holler and laugh again. It’s a s*** show over here. Enter at your own risk.”
Marking Brandon’s birthday last September, Samantha posted, “Happy birthday to my first born! 17 years has flown by! You are an amazing person and yet at the same time you make my blood boil…I love you, B!”
In another post, the mother-of-two wrote that she prays that the couple “raise our boys to be men of God, respectful husband, patient fathers and good friends.”
Samantha and Lance Baker were found with multiple stab wounds outside their private Belforest community home around 9 p.m. Sunday, WALA reported.
The matriarch of the family was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband — who ran door-to-door for help, leaving behind a trail of blood — remains in critical condition in the hospital. He was heard screaming that he “didn’t want to die,” according to traumatized neighbors.
The married couple, who had met while serving in the US Army Reserve, had attempted to flee Brandon’s knife-wielding attack that erupted after an argument over their discipline of the teen, the outlet reported.
The 17-year-old had allegedly stabbed his parents inside and outside their family home before barricading himself and calling 911, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
The family’s younger teenage son was not at the home at the time of the attack, police said.
Brandon is being held on a $1 million bond following his arraignment on Monday. He is expected to be tried as an adult.
