Arlington Heights attack: Police release sketch of suspect on bicycle accused of attacking woman near Lake Arlington, IL

In Arlington Heights, Illinois, authorities have unveiled sketches of a suspect believed to be involved in an assault on a woman returning home.

The attack reportedly took place around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday near Lake Arlington, specifically in the vicinity of Windsor Drive and Jonquil Circle, according to police statements.

An 18-year-old woman recounted that while she was making her way home from a friend’s place, a man on a bicycle approached her, inquiring about her name, as detailed by police.

When the woman did not respond, the individual allegedly shoved her to the ground and began to choke her, police reported.

However, she managed to fend off her assailant and successfully flagged down a passing driver for assistance, police added.

Authorities have indicated that the suspect fled the scene heading down Windsor towards Palatine Road. They are urging local residents and businesses to review their surveillance footage for any relevant evidence.

On Thursday, police released sketches of the suspect and a surveillance photo.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall man with a muscular build and long braided hair with circular-framed glasses.

The woman had non-life-threatening injuries, police said, but was hospitalized with bruises to her face.
