Mum refuses to fold her family’s washing: ‘It’s just going to be shoved in a drawer anyway’

  • Mum says she never folds clothes
  • She said they get creased in drawers anyway
  • The admission divided thousands of parents

A mum-of-two has divided thousands after she admitted she never folds her family’s laundry.

Rachel Jane said she ‘couldn’t think of anything worse’ than having to fold every piece of clothing as she sorts through her family’s laundry sending mums into a spin.

She said she ‘doesn’t care’ about how her kid’s clothes end up in their drawers as they will ‘just get messed up anyway’ prompting many to applaud her fuss-free laundry approach.

The Auckland mum shared a time lapse of her tidying and making over her spare room as she cleared away mounds of laundry to create a tidy office space – but there was one detail many viewers couldn’t get over.

Viewers were shocked at the mum for how she organised the washing with one saying: ‘No folding clothes? My OCD just went into overdrive.’

Auckland mum-of-two Rachel Jane has responded after critics slammed her when she admitted she doesn’t fold her family’s laundry. She said laundry was her ‘least favourite chore’

Rachel shared a response to the judging laundry lovers saying it’s her ‘least favourite chore’ and her kids are happy and healthy despite not having folded clothes in their closets.

‘I didn’t expect to trigger so many people by the fact that I don’t fold our washing, I never do,’ she said in a TikTok clip.

‘I couldn’t imagine anything worse than sitting here and folding all of this washing and we’re all fine.’

Rachel said people have even expressed their concern for her children after finding out she doesn’t fold washing to which she assured them they were happy and healthy.

‘It just gets shoved in their drawers and just gets messed up anyway so who cares?’ she said.

‘My towels get folded because they’re stacked in the linen cupboard but everything else, I don’t care and we’re all happy and healthy.’

Viewers still weren’t convinced and thought Rachel’s care-free laundry system was ‘insane’.

‘It’s wrinkly, it gets unorganised so you can’t find stuff and it takes up more space,’ one woman said.

‘Girl do you but I could never,’ a second wrote and a third added: ‘I’m sorry, but putting clean clothes on the floor is insane to me’.

‘Why don’t people fold as soon as they’re done as you take them out the dryer? Why wait until the entire 100 loads are done,’ a fourth commented.

However many were quick to defend the mum and confessed they also refuse to spend time folding their laundry.

‘Great job!!! Folding clothes with kids is a waste of time, your working smarter not harder!’ one user replied.

‘Folding washing is the bane of my existence too,’ a second agreed and another said: ‘I started this a year ago! Laundry GAME CHANGER!!’.

‘I’m with you on this! Folding baskets and baskets of laundry for five people is depressing and pointless with kids who riffle through the drawers anyway,’ someone wrote.

‘You know the whole shove-in-your-drawers theory is low-key something tonnes do but won’t admit,’ pointed out another mum while someone else said the practice was ‘totally normal’.

Some parents shared their own ‘lazy mum hacks’ with one explaining she lets her family do what they want with their washing.

‘I’m about to bring back the bucket method in my house. Everyone has a bucket and clean clothes go in there, what you do with them is on you,’ one woman said.

‘I will run the dishwasher twice to three times if it means I don’t have to stand there scrubbing them,’ a second added.
