The Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Tucson, Arizona, has acknowledged being “aware” of reports about a potential ransom note linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, who is the mother of NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie.
“We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie,” the department stated on Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that it is treating all tips and leads with the utmost seriousness.
“Every piece of information received is forwarded directly to our detectives, who are working in coordination with the FBI,” the officials noted.
This announcement followed shortly after TMZ reportedly obtained an unverified ransom note, which demands a “substantial amount” of money for Guthrie’s safe return.
TMZ has indicated that it has been in contact with law enforcement regarding this matter.
