LOS ANGELES (AP) — A group of masked thieves stole about $7,000 worth of Labubu dolls from a Los Angeles-area store this week, authorities said.
According to the LA County Sheriff’s Department, an incident occurred early Wednesday morning at a store in La Puente, located roughly 18 miles east of Los Angeles. Authorities reported that the suspects involved used a stolen Toyota Tacoma, which was soon recovered. The department is currently investigating the situation and has not released further details.
Labubu dolls, designed by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, have grown into a highly sought-after collectible, a decade after these toothy monsters were initially introduced.
One Stop Shop, a toy vendor, shared on Instagram that the perpetrators emptied the store’s entire stock and left the place in disarray. Surveillance video shared by the store captures a group wearing hoodies and masks breaking in, rifling through merchandise, and making off with boxes.
“We are still in shock,” the store said in its post, urging people to help find the thieves.
