There are numerous factors that contribute to a team’s season, ranging from coaching and roster strength to player health. However, a significant aspect will be revealed on May 14, when the NFL announces the 2025 schedule.
We already have the list of teams the Jets will face this season. On May 14, we’ll learn the sequence of these games. While many will engage in premature win-loss predictions once the schedule is out, such predictions are often ineffective. It’s impossible to foresee injuries or a team’s performance level.
Nonetheless, we have a fairly accurate understanding of which teams on the Jets’ schedule pose tough challenges and which ones might be more manageable matchups. While it won’t be perfect, it will be reasonably accurate.
A slow start can doom a team’s season. There have been seasons when the Jets have opened with a brutal stretch of opponents and never recovered. The Jets have not gone 2-0 to start a season since 2015, and you have to go back to Rex Ryan’s first year in 2009 for the last time they went 3-0.
